Studio Policy for September 2023 to May 2024
Semesters Lessons are divided into 2 semesters. Fall semester runs from September to December. Spring semester runs from January to May. I prefer students to complete a full semester. When that is not possible I require 30 days notice for lesson termination.
Tuition Tuition is due by the first (1st) of each month and remains consistent regardless of the number of lessons received in any given month. You may pay monthly or in four (4) installments which are due September 1, November 1, January 1, and March 1. Installments pay 9 weeks at a time and have a small discount.
I accept Venmo (Judith-ODell-2) Paypal (paypal.me link: jodell4) or checks. In the memo line for Venmo and Paypal please list only the students name. Please make all checks payable to Judy O’Dell. (I will accept post dated checks on the 1st of the month.)
Your tuition includes all private lessons, group lessons, performance classes, recital rehearsals, recitals and administrative costs. There will be a $35.00 fee for NSF checks. Please make checks payable to Judy O’Dell.
Additional Fees I may purchase music books for your child when new books are needed for which I need to be reimbursed. Payment is due upon receipt of new books. Balances past 30 days will be charged a $10.00 late fee. Festival fees and competition fees must be paid by the due date listed on the entry forms. I will not enter students whose fees have not been paid.
Missed Lessons Please let me know when you can’t attend a scheduled lesson. I will make every effort to find an alternative time as scheduling permits. Lessons missed by the student are forfeited. Lessons missed by the teacher will be made up (or a lesson credit may be given at my discretion).
Performance Class Dates and times will be posted in the studio and on your calendar.
Group Group lessons are given in place of regular lessons. Attendance is important. I will post the group schedule in the studio a week or two beforehand.
Recitals The Christmas Recital is an Open House. Students come to share their music in an informal setting. The Spring Recital is an important event. Students should dress up. This is a chance to showcase music and skills learned throughout the year, build confidence in a formal setting, and respect the performances of others. Family and friends are welcome at all recitals. All recitals will have a Zoom link that can be shared with family and friends. Students uncomfortable performing in person due to Covid will perform on Zoom.
Registration Fee An annual non-refundable Registration Fee is charged every Spring (or upon enrollment for new students). Payment of the fee includes acceptance of the studio policy, permission to post pictures to my Facebook page and guarantees your spot for fall. Students who have not paid the fee are considered newcomers and if no spot is available may be placed on the waiting list. The fee is $35.00 for the 1st student, $25.00 for the 2nd and $15.00 for any additional students.
Student conduct at lessons Students need to be on their best behavior at lessons. Learning is fun when the student is attentive and respectful. Students and siblings that observe other lessons need to be quiet and undisruptive.
Facebook Page My studio has a Facebook page entitled O'Dell Music Studio. Please 'like' it when you get a chance. I will post links to articles, Ted Talks, performances, etc. I will also post recital pictures, festival pictures, etc.

Piano Make sure your piano is in good repair and get it tuned at least once a year. Some families are starting out with keyboards. Make sure your keyboard is set up at piano height and that your child uses good piano posture.
